Our Mission

The founding belief of the Prometheus Alliance is that the research community, along with each member of the Alliance, will benefit from a coordinated, collaborative effort at a level greater than what could be accomplished from individual efforts. The Alliance members will share in the expenses, the risks, and the rewards, including technology transfer.

Bucking the trend of applying general purpose platforms with numerous after-market customization efforts, the Prometheus Alliance will work toward the development of a “purpose built” platform for bioinformatics, with fully integrated software and tools, which will do one thing really well – processing of targeted algorithms and applications.

Members of the Alliance will collaborate on platform technologies, the availability and use of shared resources, the development of software and algorithms, the porting and tuning of identified codes, and the establishment of a collective resource pool for the use of Alliance members.
